The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Cairo, Egypt, officially opened after more than two decades of construction and delays caused by the Arab Spring protests, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other regional conflicts.
位於埃及開羅的大埃及博物館歷經二十多年興建，以及因阿拉伯之春的抗爭浪潮、新冠疫情與其他區域衝突造成的多次延宕後，終於正式開幕。
World leaders, including presidents, prime ministers, and members of royalty, assembled near the Pyramids of Giza to celebrate the inauguration of the new institution.
包括總統、首相與王室成員在內的各國領袖齊聚吉薩金字塔附近，一同慶祝這座新博物館的開幕典禮。
The museum, built with more than US$1 billion in funding, exhibits treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb and a massive statue of Ramesses II, among other artifacts.

It also features a modern, pyramid-inspired design that stands in sharp contrast to the older Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo.

Promoters say the GEM marks both a revival of Egypt’s tourism-driven economy and a new chapter in the nation’s cultural legacy.
